The course opened on June 1 and can be joined anytime through July 12.

This online course will be offered June 1-July 31 for experienced public school teachers who are making the move to an independent school. Participants will explore the unique culture and structure of an independent school and what it’s like to work within a mission-aligned school community. They will also develop an entry plan for the first few weeks in their new school.

  • Participants should have at least three years of teaching experience in a public or charter school setting.
  • Participants should allow approximately 6-8 hours over the course of 8 weeks to complete the course.
  • Lessons will guide teachers on what questions to ask and information they need to know and understand about their new school.
  • Opportunities for cohort discussions will allow participants to share hopes, fears, and questions with course faculty and peers.
  • Independent school educators that have made the public-to-private shift will share their experience and advice, and answer questions during three live Zoom sessions: June 23, July 14, and July 26 at 4 PM Eastern.
