This workshop will introduce the top considerations when understanding the impact of marijuana use on students today, such as variations in potency and methods of use, changes in perceptions of risk, the impact on the adolescent brain, and the link between adolescent use upon mental health and well-being. Participants will review evidence-based recommendations for innovative and effective approaches to marijuana prevention at school.

Sarah Ferraro CunninghamCo-Founder, Panaptic
Sarah Ferraro Cunningham Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist specializing in substance use in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has served as a clinical leader in The Permanente Medical Group, the award-winning national leader in preventive care. Dr. Cunningham has also devoted her expertise to nationally recognized research projects on early intervention for teens and young adults struggling with substance use. Through her dedication to marijuana prevention, Dr. Cunningham was selected to represent Panaptic by joining the inaugural year of a landmark program, Innovation to Impact at Yale University. Innovation to Impact, founded through a collaboration between Yale University and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), brings together leaders in substance use prevention and research across the country with the goal of impacting the national substance use crisis. Dr. Cunningham brings her personal experience as a mother to helping young adults and their families prevent the many problems associated with frequent marijuana use.
Richard Von FeldtCo-Founder, Panaptic
Richard Von Feldt Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist specializing in addiction in the San Francisco Bay Area. He earned his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco. Throughout his career working in hospitals and community clinics, Dr. Von Feldt has specialized in substance abuse treatment for adolescents and adults. In additional to clinical work, Dr. Von Feldt is an educator who has dedicated his career to creating and directing nationally recognized training programs for health service psychologists at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California. As the co-founder of Panaptic, Dr. Von Feldt is regarded as an innovative educator of cannabis prevention and abuse for teens, young adults, and families. Dr. Von Feldt has become a national leader in providing trainings for healthcare workers, educators, and community agencies. With over 30 years of recovery himself, Dr. Von Feldt offers a deep personal understanding of the pain and liberation from addiction and a commitment to providing young people with effective prevention education.
