Mill Springs Academy of Alpharetta, GA, a college-prep school serving non-traditional learners, invites applications for a part-time Behavior Specialist. This role provides behavioral services to students either directly or through consultation with staff in accordance with the needs of the students, teacher and staff training and consultation, and monitors efficacy and implementation of behavioral protocols in the school setting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Models, trains, and assists teachers with general classroom management strategies
  • Conducts student functional behavior assessments as needed
  • Develops, implements, and monitors strategies for positive student behavior management
  • Develops and conducts trainings for school administrators and teachers in behavior analytic principles and procedures.
  • Consults with teachers, professionals, and parents about student progress
  • Conducts observations of classroom environments to assure established behavior strategies are implemented, provides feedback as needed
  • Attends team meetings as necessary
  • Maintains appropriate contact and communication with caregivers, outside agencies, and schools regarding treatment, development of treatment plans, and goals/objectives
  • Keeps up to date with research in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and uses evidence-based practice in treatment planning
  • Maintains ethical conduct

 

Required Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

OR

  • Master’s degree in psychology, education, or related field AS WELL AS:
    • Two years of experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavior disorders
    • Two years of experience in behavioral assessment and treatment

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or related field AS WELL AS:
    • Five years of experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavior disorders
    • Five years of experience in behavioral assessment and treatment

  

Professional Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Experience in supervising others and providing training and consultation in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Experience working with older students (middle school and high school age)
