The Paideia School is seeking candidates for the position of College Counselor.  This position is half time to full time (10.5 Months) and is primarily College Counseling with additional opportunities depending on the qualifications of the candidate.

Paideia School is a K-12 college preparatory school in the Emory University area of Atlanta. The High School curriculum consists of extensive offerings in English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Natural and Physical Sciences, Art and Music. Class size averages 15 students.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Paideia School is seeking candidates for the position of College Counselor.  This position is half time with the option for full time if the candidate is additionally qualified for part time teaching. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Counseling students and families on the college search and selection process, standardized testing, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and application preparation
  • Writing recommendations for a portion of the senior class
  • Researching colleges and developing and maintaining relationships with colleges and universities through visits, meetings, and conferences
  • Participation in the planning and presentation of various programs put on by the College Counseling Office
  • Assisting in the creation, updating, and editing of written materials and web content used as outreach to students and parents
  • Other opportunities will vary depending on the candidate, but could include:  teaching (strongly preferred) and/or coaching

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
  • Prior experience in a school’s College Counseling office and/or in a selective college Admissions office.
  • Experience working with students and families of diverse backgrounds is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills that include: proficiency in writing, and ability to advocate for students in all aspects of the college search and admissions process
