Lake Highland’s dedicated faculty members carefully plan and lead the rigorous and broad-based curricula for Pre-K through 12th-grade students. Our unique academic continuum spans 14 years, and it offers an exciting array of college preparatory opportunities. Leadership at Lake Highland Preparatory School

The Lower School Director is a member of the School’s Leadership Team and reports directly to the School’s President, Vice Admiral Alfred G. Harms, Jr., USN (Ret.). Led by the President, our school Leadership Team and administrative staff are wholly committed to Lake Highland’s mission, and they actively lead our students, faculty, and staff members by living our mission daily in accordance with our Strategic Plan.

The Position

LHPS seeks an experienced and demonstrated leader, educator, and administrator to head our Lower School program. The Director must be comfortable and motivated to lead and carefully guide outcomes in alignment with our Strategic Plan. The incoming Director will commence working at LHPS in early summer, no later than July 1, 2022.

The Director provides leadership and supervision in the daily operation of the Lower School. The Director will plan for and oversee the quality of learning, student services, and student outcomes while ensuring cohesive integration with school-wide policies, programs, and initiatives. The Director continues to cultivate a school community based on love, genuine concern, and mutual respect.

The Director must be able to easily cope and skillfully deal with ambiguity while conducting critical analyses of current pedagogy, assessing mission alignment with organizational constructs, and ensuring unwavering commitment to our mission principles and Strategic Plan. The Director will assess current Lower School organizational structures, curricula standards, and practices, then confidently recommend and implement organizational streamlining and program changes to align with best practices, where appropriate.

The successful candidate will be a talented, mission-driven, and enthusiastic educational leader who is ready to contribute to a dynamic learning community. The successful candidate should be willing to work with and develop both strong faculty members and motivated students of diverse cultures and experiences, and will lead, inspire, and empower the Lower School Leadership Team to champion the school’s mission.

Search Process

After an initial review of applicants in early December 2021, the Search Committee will contact a select group of candidates for interviews. Finalists will be invited to LHPS for a more comprehensive series of interviews with administrators and other school constituents. LHPS expects to make an appointment in by February 28, 2022. We will keep all applicants informed of their status throughout the process.

Clearance Process

LHPS conducts background checks, fingerprinting, and drug testing, and may use a third-party administrator. Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Lake Highland is a drug-free workplace.
