Jackson Preparatory School, in Flowood, MS, seeks a visionary leader who is committed to advancing the educational experience for elementary students and faculty through leadership, determination, and innovation. 

The Head of Elementary School (hereafter “The Head”) will lead the planning and development of an innovative elementary school on the Jackson Prep campus.  The Head must be a strategic and innovative leader who has a solid understanding of the developmental and curricular needs of today’s elementary students.  The Head will lead the development of an innovative, creative, and future-focused curriculum for elementary students, concentrating on engaging students with 21st century tools while teaching future- focused skills.

The Head will be the educational leader of the elementary school, responsible for its day-to-day operation. The Head will maintain congruence between the school’s board-approved mission and all elementary school activities.  The Head will function as the chief articulator and coordinator of the elementary school curriculum, programs, activities, expectations, behavioral guidelines, and other information necessary to ensure that all constituencies are fully informed and engaged consonant with their individual roles.  The Head will report directly to the Head of School and serve on the executive leadership team. The Head will lead the elementary school faculty in the spiritual, educational, curricular, and administrative aspects of fulfilling Jackson Prep’s mission “to inspire and challenge students toward academic, athletic and artistic excellence, instill personal integrity through biblical values, and equip students to pursue lives of distinction in service to society.

The qualified candidate will most likely possess the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in educational administration or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience teaching and/or administrative experience in an elementary educational setting, preferably in independent schools 
  • Understand childhood development and be able to communicate effectively with children ages 3 – 10
  • Track record of collaboration in educational leadership to support students’ academic and socio-emotional development
  • Ability to respond thoughtfully and decisively to the diverse needs of faculty, students, and their families 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to make sound judgments
  • Training in a variety of pedagogical methods
  • Experience related to compliance with various accreditation agencies
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent work ethic, modeling respect, honesty, and integrity
  • Familiarity with current educational technology and its integration into the classroom, including learning and assessment tools for elementary students.  Jackson Prep is a Google school
