Cannon School seeks a dynamic leader as its next Head of Upper School, starting July 2022. The successful candidate will be a relational, experienced leader committed to the school’s mission. The Head of Upper School will provide leadership for 437 students and 60 faculty members and will work to create a vision for the Upper School that promotes growth, development, and academic achievement.

Founded in 1969, Cannon School is a leader in JrK-12 education in the Southeast region, located northeast of Charlotte, North Carolina. Serving over 1,000 students from Concord and the surrounding communities, Cannon offers a rigorous but balanced education that prepares students to meet the challenges of a dynamic and unpredictable future. The learning experience in Upper School provides a unique, student-first approach to developing a personalized program of study that supports their interests, passions, and talents.

The Head of Upper School will thrive in a highly relational and collaborative environment and partner with key stakeholders across the school to develop short- and long-term strategic goals for all aspects of the Upper School. In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities as the Head of Upper School, this position is a member of Cannon’s leadership team reporting directly to the Head of School and will be part of the development and execution of the school’s overall strategic plan. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to create a climate of excellence, foster deep relationships among educators and students and have an unwavering commitment to student success.

This position is a full time, 12-month, exempt leadership position.
