Job Title: Kindergarten Lead Teacher

Reports to: Head of School

Salary/Benefits: Commensurate with educational degree and teaching experience $38,000 – $52,000

Starting Immediately, January 2022

Candidates must hold a degree in higher education in the field of education. A master’s degree in early childhood education is preferred. Fully vaccinated applicants only.

Job Summary: Plans and implements an academic, developmentally appropriate nurturing classroom program for the age group assigned according to Friends’ philosophy of education.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides for the safety, care, and education of the students entrusted to him/her/them.
  • Building, planning, carrying out program and curriculum in keeping with Friends’ educational philosophy for the classes assigned and sharing those responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Creates an academically excellent program by following the curriculum guidelines and meeting the needs of an inclusive classroom.
  • Creates a cooperative and non-competitive classroom environment
  • Implements a behavioral policy within the classroom in alignment with the school’s practices and guidelines.
  • Coordinates and works as a team member with other teachers concerned with the same students, including regular team/resource person meetings, to facilitate and integrate the curriculum as fully as possible.
  • Works closely with other faculty members to coordinate and integrate curriculum and class experiences within and between grades as often as necessary, including work at faculty/staff meetings.
  • Shares, as appropriate, faculty coverage for supervision of students before, during, and after school, including recess, carpool, and early-morning care.
  • Schedules and participates in parent conferences for students in the assigned class.
  • Writes reports, which include narrative and checklist portions, for each student in the assigned class in the middle and at the end of the year.
  • Communicates with students, faculty/staff, and parents to enhance learning for each student, and at least once monthly written communication for parents.
