Charlotte Latin is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our cohort of Latin Fellows as an Upper School Science Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Latin Fellows is designed to give one year of guidance, training, and experience to recent college graduates considering teaching as a career. Latin Fellows are not considered interns or student teachers; rather, they are full-time employees treated as colleagues within their departments under the mentorship of expert teachers.
Fellows have many opportunities to contribute to the school community and for personal and professional development. Examples may include sponsoring a club, coaching, attending conferences and chaperoning domestic or international travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in ongoing Fellows Program training
Embrace the natural progression (physics in 9th grade, chemistry in 10th grade, and biology in 11th grade) as part of the school’s approach to science instruction
Design interactive lessons, classroom experiences, and inquiry activities for biology students
Commit to supporting the development of students as individuals
Foster critical thinking skills
Build connections between course content and society
Guide students interested in independent research opportunities
Awaken and enhance student appreciation for the wonder of the natural sciences
Engage in the broader work of the Upper School Science Department and of Charlotte Latin School
Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education on or before June 30, 2022.
Basic technology skills.
Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological sciences, STEM, Education, or closely related fields with coursework in education methodologies and child development.
Proficient with using technology as an instructional complement.
Exhibit a love of working with children.
Devoted to meeting the needs of the whole child – academic, social, emotional and developmental.
Committed to safety and civility.
Exhibit willingness to adapt to new and innovative teaching methodologies.
Show a great deal of flexibility in working with colleagues and students and sharing classroom space.
Willing and able to resolve conflicts with colleagues, parents and between students.
The ability to build a strong rapport with colleagues and serve as a collaborative team player.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion efforts.
