This is a full-time Learning Support teacher position working with students in Grades 6-12 with mild to moderate needs, beginning on August 1, 2022.

Teachers at AIS are innovators and leaders who have a passion for working with students in a multicultural community and are always seeking new ways to personalize learning. With an interdisciplinary focus, AIS teachers also integrate innovative learning strategies while working with a diverse student population.

The Learning Support department adheres to a strength-based model of operation and believes that each child has the capacity to be a successful, effective and independent learner. The teacher will provide a safe, inclusive educational experience that enables students to develop academic and affective skills. They will provide impactful, small group teaching and help embed inclusive teaching and learning practices throughout the school. They will contribute to the Student Support Teams and provide faculty professional development.


Teaching and Learning 

  • Complete initial student screenings and provide recommendations
  • Deliver small group Resource lessons to develop the academic and affective  skills
  • Work on a consultation basis with LS students
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement successful learning strategies
  • Advocate for inclusive educational practices
  • Provide/supervise testing accommodations

Record Keeping

  • Safeguard confidential records
  • Create Learning Profiles and evidence progress


  • Communicate with external agencies as needed
  • Inform and collaborate with the SST and faculty on student interventions
  • Communicate with parents  


  • Attending relevant courses and keep abreast of best practice for SpLD/SEN
  • Engage in the provision of whole school professional development as requested

Ideal candidates will have experience with a range of pedagogical approaches and will be excited by the opportunity to teach a diverse student body in an inquisitive and inquiry-based environment. The ideal candidate has demonstrated effective equitable and inclusive practices within and outside the classroom. A passion for working with adolescent learners, flexible attitude, commitment to lifelong learning, and a sense of humor are welcome.


  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in SEN or SpLD (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Certified teacher or special educational needs teacher status preferred
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in Learning Support
  • Extensive experience and proven record as an effective Learning Support teacher for a range of needs
  • Experience of writing and Interpreting Special Need Documentation
  • Experience with College Board and ACT accommodations process preferred
  • Ability to complete diagnostic tests for Specific Learning Difficulties
  • Enthusiastic about teaching within a multicultural and multilingual environment. Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style are essential.
  • A commitment to equity and inclusion, inquiry and experiential based pedagogy is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
  • Experience of the IB MYP and IBDP is desirable
