Episcopal Day School seeks a Head of Lower School (K-4)  to begin July 1, 2022.

Currently serving 355 students, EDS is the leading independent school in the region, known for its 78 year history of educational excellence balancing tradition with innovation in thoughtful and meaningful ways. As the region’s first and only 1:1 school in grades K-8, EDS was widely acknowledged as making the most effective and seamless transition to distance learning when COVID19 caused schools to close in March of 2020. Despite the disruptions of COVID, EDS has recently developed and opened a 38 acre satellite campus (the Flowing Wells Campus) seven miles from the main campus, dedicated to experiential learning, as well as athletics, outdoor worship, and a variety of community activities. Currently, all EDS students incorporate the campus into their learning, with most grades visiting once per week to engage in multi- and trans- diciplinary hands-on learning activities. The next Lower School Division Head will have a wonderful opportunity (working in conjunction with the other Division Heads, the Chair of Science and Sustainability, and the Head of School) to expand and create ways in which the Flowing Wells Campus is meaningfully integrated into the EDS educational experience.

The Head of the Lower School is the educational and administrative leader of the division with responsibility for the students, faculty, programs, and parent relations. The three Division Heads (Pre, Lower, and Middle schools) report directly to the Head of School and form the core of the administrative team.  The next Lower School Head will have a wonderful opportunity to help shape, with a talented and dedicated faculty, an exciting and creative future for the program while building upon a tradition of success and excellence. Additionally the Lower School Head enjoys the support and benefits of working with an experienced, talented, cohesive, supportive, dedicated, and collegial faculty team.
