Trident Academy, located minutes from downtown Charleston, SC, educates students in grades K through 12 who struggle with learning disabilities like dyslexia and ADHD. The OG Specialist should possess a minimum of a four-year degree AND have training conducted by a Fellow in the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners & Educators (AOGPE).  Trident Academy, accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators as a training site, will provide continuous training.  Successful candidates will be dynamic, collaborative, inspirational, and tech-savvy educators.  All applicants must have an academic background that includes an undergraduate degree.  Ideally, this would be combined with qualifications in Special Education and advanced Orton-Gillingham training.

  OG Specialists are expected to:

  • continue their training through the Academy seeking the next highest level, e.g. Associate, Certified, Fellow
  • have strong leadership skills
  • possess the personality traits of enthusiasm, creativity, imagination, and a strong desire/ability to collaborate across content areas
  • a desire to help students achieve

Job Type:  Full-time and/or Part-time

Required experience:  Teaching – 1 year

Preferred license or certification:  AOGPE Associate level – Trident Academy will provide continuous training
