Charlotte Latin School is seeking a Physical Education and Health teacher for grades 6-9 beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. This position will also serve as a Varsity Head Soccer Coach and is responsible for overseeing all Middle & Upper School levels of the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Physical Education & Health Teacher

  • Teaches Physical Education & Health, Grades 6-9

  • Supervises Locker Room before and after classes

  • Communicates effectively with Department Chair

  • Manages equipment used in classes

  • Participates in Experiential Education and Emotional Intelligence training

  • Leads Intramural classes as scheduled

  • Works as a team with other teachers in the department, including sharing space & equipment

  • Participates in gym supervision during recess time

  • Attends department and division meetings

  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Head Varsity Soccer Coach

  • Serves as head coach of the boys’ and/or girls’ varsity team(s).

  • Maintains a safe environment for student-athletes at all times

  • Supervises and provides instruction to student-athletes during all activities

  • Hires coaches for all levels of the program

  • Manages budget for all levels of the program, including purchasing equipment, supplies and uniforms

  • Maintains inventory of equipment, supplies, and uniforms for all levels of the program

  • Prepares the schedule and determines travel needs for all levels of the program

  • Meets with prospective new families and provides feedback to admissions

  • Provides frequent and timely communication to the Athletic Director regarding the program including team and coach performance

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises head and assistant coaches within their program

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Physical Education, Health or closely related field

  • Three to five years experience teaching Physical Education and/or Health classes

  • Experience teaching in an independent school preferred

  • 3+ years Head coaching experience with a high school, competitive middle school or club team, or high level playing experience in college or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Adheres to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity and maturity
