This is a full-time, temporary, position teaching PYP English to students in Upper Primary School (Grades 3-5) from January 3, 2022 – July 31, 2022.

The classroom assistant works with the lead teacher to meet the needs of the students in a developmentally appropriate manner. The classroom assistant will also create opportunities for learning, while giving students the tools to appreciate and respect the ideas of others, and develop effective collaboration and communication skills.



  • Lead small groups of students or circulate through the learning environment assisting students.
  • Help with classroom management, taking over the class if the teacher is out of the room.
  • Carry out supervision duties (recess, lunch, etc.) and support with the preparation of classroom materials.
  • Collaborate closely with the lead teacher(s) to create a seamless experience for the students.
  • Clearly communicate expectations with students, check for understanding and pivot as appropriate.
  • Delivering lessons to a broad range of learners including those requiring learning support
  • Build partnerships with students, parents, teachers and colleagues to support the culture of “we.”
  • Create a safe place of learning which is intentionally inclusive where all voices are seen, heard and valued.

Ideal candidates will have experience with a range of pedagogical approaches and will be excited by the opportunity to teach a diverse student body in an inquisitive and inquiry-based environment. The ideal candidate has demonstrated effective equitable and inclusive practices within and outside the classroom. A passion for working with adolescent learners, flexible attitude, commitment to lifelong learning, and a sense of humor are essential.


  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 year of teaching experience
  • IB PYP teaching experience is preferred, but good applicants with other curriculum experience are also welcome to apply.
  • Enthusiastic about teaching within a multicultural and multilingual environment. Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style are essential.
  • A commitment to equity and inclusion, inquiry and experiential based pedagogy is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • An understanding of the principles of second language acquisition
  • Successful experience in an inquiry/trans-disciplinary or IB PYP environment
