St. Martin’s Episcopal School has an opening for a School Resource Officer. The primary function of this position is to watch and patrol grounds and buildings on foot and in vehicle, to protect the premises against     damage, theft, or harm caused by intruders, and to ensure building security.  We seek candidates who are culturally competent and responsive, support the mission and vision statements of St. Martin’s Episcopal School, and to contribute to the overall life of the school.  We are welcoming of all applicants regardless of race, color, gender, age, veteran status, religion, sexual orientation, disability, national or ethnic origin, or any other protected characteristics.

This is a salaried, full-time, non-exempt position with benefits.  Pay is dependent upon education, training, and experience.  Some of the key duties and qualifications of the job are:

  • Regulate vehicle traffic and maintain orderly flow and control
  • Ensure pedestrian safety at school crossways
  • Be aware of noise in and around classrooms and buildings
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure
  • Respond quickly and effectively to security violations and report security violations
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations by safely directing people and coordinating with emergency response personnel
  • Conduct and/or assist in security investigations
  • Write reports upon completion of investigations
  • Crowd control at extracurricular activities and special events
  • Check logbook for events daily
  • Secure doors in school buildings and gates as necessary
  • Accept additional duties as assigned by supervisor


About You

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have GA POST or Uniformed Security Officer certification or ability to get certified
  • Have a minimum of one year of security experience
  • Be able to work overtime for after-hour events, when necessary
  • Exercise cognitive skills necessary to perform job duties
  • Exercise proficient oral and written communication skill
  • Must be able to maintain a positive and helpful attitude in stressful situations
  • Work with youth and adults in the school community professionally at all times and diffuse differences through conflict resolution
