Job Description

Salisbury Academy is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and student-centered lower school teacher who will inspire and instill a love of learning in students. We seek an educator who is skillful in designing hands-on experiences and utilizes a student-centered model to implement projects, oversee learning, and recognize moments to engage students in growing as learners, thinkers, and collaborators. Candidates should be skillful in the use of diverse teaching strategies and modes of assessment, manage groups, interpret data, assess, organize, plan, and clearly communicate. A degree in the field and 3-5 years of teaching experience is preferred. 


  • Bacherlor’s degree in Elementary Education or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Proficient with using technology as an instructional component
  • Knowledgeable with Core Knowledge Curriculum
  • Proficient in differentiating instruction
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Flexible, result oriented, self-starter
Job Requirements


  • Instruct students in reading and reading strategies, writing, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, math, science, and social students, while creating a positive and engaging environment for learning
  • Manage a classroom of 22-24 students with one full-time assistant
  • Attend and participate in ongoing faculty development
  • Participate in committee work, faculty meetings, and other duties as scheduled
  • Lead annual parent conferences and maintain positive communication with parents
  • Communicate regularly with parents of students via newsletters, email, phone, or conference
  • Maintain a positive attitude and conduct oneself professionally with respect to students, faculty, parents, and the community
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to address learning styles and needs
  • Exhibit strong classroom management.
  • Record students’ progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Work collaboratively with the lower school team
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with and among parents and students
