Brookwood School is an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory day school in
Thomasville, Georgia, which offers a superior educational opportunity to qualified
students. Founded in 1970, Brookwood enrolls approximately 500 students, drawing
from six counties in Southwest Georgia and two counties in North Florida. Brookwood
strives to produce an exceptional educational experience by providing excellent teachers,
a sound curriculum, and an enriching environment. Brookwood’s mission is to develop
the whole child: academically, spiritually, socially, and physically.

We have an opening for an experienced Upper School Director starting in July 2022. The
Upper School Director serves as the educational leader of the Upper School, responsible
for leading the faculty, and managing curriculum, programs, policies, and procedures to
ensure that all students are provided a learning environment that meets their needs and is
aligned with the mission of the school.

The Upper School Director maintains comprehensive responsibility for all instruction
and activities involving the students and faculty of the Upper School (ninth through
twelfth grades). For the current academic year, the Upper School includes 168 students,
17 classroom teachers, two Deans of Students, a Registrar, an assistant, and the Director of College Counseling. The next Director must be student-centered, team-focused, hard-
working, creative, compassionate, and disciplined. The Upper School Director will report directly to the Headmaster and will serve as a member of Brookwood’s senior leadership
team.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Noteworthy experience in Upper School instruction, curriculum, teacher supervision, and
school administration (five years or more, preferred).
An advanced degree in a field or fields pertaining to adolescent development and educational
leadership.
Demonstrated ability to create a structured learning environment.
Understanding of independent schools.
Strong proficiency in technology to facilitate communication, collaboration, and instruction
within the school community.
Experience with curriculum development.
Ability to embrace innovation while also supporting tradition at the same time.
Skills and experience in admissions, as well as a willingness to work collaboratively with the
Director of Admissions.
Experience with class scheduling.
