Are you inspired by discussing mathematical ideas? Does it bring you joy to help students understand mathematical concepts? Do you feel gratified by turning others on to the beauty of math? Are you eager to collaborate with colleagues, and support students in and out of the classroom? If the answers to these questions are yes, Ransom Everglades School encourages you to apply to become a full time faculty member in the upper school math department. While faculty members are expected to teach a range of mathematics courses from year to year, if you are able to teach advanced math, such as AP calculus, multivariable calculus, differential equations, combinatorics, and/or abstract algebra we are especially eager to receive your application!

The math & computer science department resides in the STEM Department that represents the school’s commitment to interdisciplinary thinking and to STEM as a core element of our curriculum. We empower faculty to develop our curriculum and to create exciting learning opportunities for students and to bring ideas about how we can further integrate disciplines within STEM, such as incorporating programming skills (i.e. Excel, MATLAB) into the general curriculum. If you are interested in joining a creative, hard-working faculty to help very bright, ambitious students appreciate and apply sophisticated mathematical ideas, this position may be just right for you.

Faculty members teach in our recently-opened, 40,000 square foot LEED-certified Fernandez STEM Center. State-of-the-art labs for life, chemical, and physical sciences, fully-equipped workshops for making and engineering, and collaborative workspaces invite experimentation, creativity, and collaboration. Learn about the STEM center here.

Faculty members in the STEM department contribute to the department’s ongoing discussions about interdisciplinary and experiential learning, research, innovative assessment practices, and best practices in the use of technology in education. RE welcomes candidates who embrace the school’s value for inquiry-based, student-centered learning and share the school’s commitment to equitable, inclusive, culturally responsive education. Ransom Everglades expects its faculty members to be accessible to students, collaborate with peers, participate in department meetings and student activities, be committed to professional growth, and engage in the life of the school beyond the classroom. Prior independent school teaching experience is preferred. Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree in a STEM field and be comfortable using the Microsoft Suite and G Suite platforms.
