Governance Workshops for Small Schools

Introducing a special opportunity for SAIS member schools with annual operating budgets under $3M!

SAIS past president and veteran head of school Dr. Kirk Walker is now available to conduct workshops for your board. They can be presented on-campus (limited availability). Presentations vary from 90-180 minutes and can be adjusted based on your needs.

Before serving as president of SAIS from 2015-2019, Dr. Kirk Walker spent over three decades as head of McCallie School, Ensworth School, and Bright School and interim head of Webb School of Knoxville and Girls Preparatory School. He has consulted with and counseled dozens of independent school boards throughout his career. Prior to becoming a head of school, he served as a supervisor of instruction and taught at the middle, upper, and college levels. He has also chaired both the TAIS and SAIS boards as well as volunteering for and contributing board service to several other local organizations in his hometown of Chattanooga, TN. He was a Morehead Scholar at UNC and completed his master’s and doctorate degrees at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University.

Fees

  • The on-campus workshop fee is $500 plus lodging and travel.
  • Available only to SAIS member schools with annual operating budgets under $3M.
