New Trustee Onboarding Course
This course is built specifically for independent school boards and introduces trustees to the core governance competencies of the SAIS Governance Health Index framework.
Through short modules, reflections, and scenario-based exercises, the course helps new trustees:
- Understand the distinction between governance and management.
- Develop a shared governance vocabulary with fellow trustees and school leadership.
- Explore the board’s role in strategy, community engagement, and innovation.
- Strengthen the partnership between the board and the head of school.
Each of the eight sessions takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Trustees can move through the course in segments, making it easy to integrate into even a busy onboarding schedule.
