Call for Nominations

The SAIS Board of Trustees is responsible for the supervision, control, and direction of the association. The nominations process takes place each spring.

The call for nominations will close on June 14, 2024.

Term of Office

  • The trustee term, which begins on January 1 of the year following election, is three years.
  • For this cycle, the term of service is 1/1/2025-12/31/2027.
  • A trustee may, during tenure or at the time of rotating off the board, be elected to a position as an officer. Officers are exempt from the regular board rotation.

Board Meetings

  • Trustees are expected to participate in all meetings.
  • The board meets four times a year:
    • In-person: April and Sept (locations TBD)
    • Virtual: July and Dec (from 3-5 PM Eastern)

Nominations Process

  • You may nominate yourself or someone else for board service using the links above.
  • The governance committee reviews the nominees and recommends a slate to the full board. 
  • Per the bylaws, the board-approved slate will be announced no later than 30 days prior to the annual business meeting
  • The election by heads of SAIS member schools will take place via Zoom at the SAIS Annual Business Meeting at 4:15 PM Eastern on October 16, 2024.
  • New trustees begin their terms on January 1 of the following year.

Eligibility

Bylaws Article 4. BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

The governing body of the association is the board. The board is responsible for the supervision, control and direction of the association. The board shall consist of the officers, the immediate past chair, and up to 15 at-­large members of the board, referred to as “trustees,” with the intent of representing the diversity of schools within the membership. At all times a majority of the SAIS board shall be heads of member schools. However, board members may also include, but not be limited to, staff of educational associations, members of the educational community at large, member school trustees, and such other individuals who may fulfill the strategic needs of the association from time to time.
