The cohorts provide guidance, support, and the opportunity to practice instructional skills with a small peer group led by an experienced independent school educator, along with immediate, constructive feedback in a supportive setting.

Schedule & Location

LOCATION: We will meet on the 2nd floor of Barge Commons at The Westminster Schools, 1424 W Paces Ferry Rd NW, Atlanta GA 30237.

ARRIVAL: Plan to arrive between 12:30-12:45 PM local time (Eastern) on Tuesday, July 22.

If your travel plans do not allow you to arrive by 1:00 PM, please text Lori Spear at (404) 561-5841 with your ETA.

Roster & Cohort

Review the roster, including your cohort and filming order for demo lessons.

Parking

  1. Enter Westminster’s main gate at 1424 W Paces Ferry Rd NW and continue straight past the tennis courts and football field.
  2. Take the second exit out of the roundabout, essentially staying straight.
  3. At the first stop sign, turn RIGHT.
  4. Barge Commons will be on your right.
  5. Drive past Barge Commons and follow the road into the parking deck.
  6. Park anywhere you would like.
  7. Exit the parking deck and enter Barge Commons.
  8. Look for SAIS signs to guide the way.

Uber Instructions

DROP-OFF:

  1. Enter Westminster’s main gate at 1424 W Paces Ferry Rd NW and continue straight past the tennis courts and football field.
  2. Take the second exit out of the roundabout, essentially staying straight.
  3. At the first stop sign, turn RIGHT.
  4. Barge Commons will be on your right – Uber passengers will exit vehicle here
  5. Look for SAIS signs to guide the way.

PICK-UP:

Share the above instructions with the Uber driver and wait in front of Barge Commons for them to arrive.

Meals & Menus

The following meals will be provided along with daily beverages:

  • Tuesday: pizza social
  • Wednesdaybreakfast, lunch
  • Thursday: breakfast, lunch

Certificate of Attendance

At the final session on Thursday, in exchange for your name badge, certificates of participation will be distributed showing the number of contact hours earned. Be sure to give a copy to your supervisor for your personnel file.

Absences

Need to leave early?

Please let us know so your certificate can be updated to reflect the actual number of participation hours. Corrected certificates cannot be provided on-site but will be mailed to your supervisor.

Virtual Cohort

As a graduate of the Institute for New Teachers, you’re invited to join a virtual cohort that meets throughout the school year. Strengthen your teaching experience through continued support and collaboration. These structured sessions provide opportunities to

  • Continue your professional development,
  • Address challenges in real-time,
  • Connect with peers navigating similar experiences, and
  • Receive guidance from experienced educators.

All sessions will be facilitated by Elizabeth Maglio, SAIS director of professional learning, via Zoom from 3:30-4:30 PM Eastern. A Zoom link will be shared by email.
