The first few years of teaching in an independent school can be challenging. The SAIS Institute for New Teachers provides guidance, support, and the opportunity to practice planning and instructional skills with a small peer group led by an experienced independent school educator. Immediate, constructive feedback on demonstration lessons allows attendees to practice their craft in a supportive setting. This 3-day program offers practical hands-on strategies and information unique to the culture and setting of an independent school. New teachers leave this workshop empowered to create and facilitate inspired learning experiences, partner with parents, and find their place in the school community.
Do you have at least three years of teaching experience in a public or charter school setting? Register for the Institute for New Teachers: Public-to-Private instead, designed for experienced public school teachers who are making the move to an independent school.
Early-career educators are juggling so many new things – classroom management, curriculum, the culture of a new school, parents, and more. The Early Career Teacher Mentorship Program supports new teachers by providing year-long virtual support from experienced independent school educators. The program will give teachers the space to learn core skills, gain confidence, and improve their practice while building relationships with other early-career educators.
